Photography exhibition from the Bank of America Merrill Lynch collection at Museo del Novecento, Milan.

Introduction du projet

Conversations

Conversations is a photography exhibition produced by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and presented at the Museo del Novecento in Milan from 30 September 2011 to 15 January 2012, curated by Silvia Paoli. The exhibition features a selection from the Bank of America Merrill Lynch collection, one of the most significant American photography collections. The exhibition places images from the 19th and 20th centuries in dialogue through thematic, historical and formal juxtapositions: urban photography (Robert Frank, Harry Callahan, William Klein), portraiture (Man Ray, Edward Weston, Cindy Sherman) and still life (Irving Penn, William Eggleston, Lee Friedlander) meet in eloquent visual counterpoints. Through works by masters such as Alfred Stieglitz, Paul Strand, Walker Evans, László Moholy-Nagy and Thomas Struth, the exhibition transforms the visit into a continuous conversation across eras, styles and photographic languages.

« Conçue pour Milan grâce à la collaboration entre Bank of America Merrill Lynch et le Musée, l’exposition présente à la ville une collection photographique extraordinaire, comprenant des œuvres de grands auteurs, et s’intègre idéalement au parcours d’expositions du musée à l’échelle internationale. » — Marina Pugliese, directrice du Museo del Novecento
